The Monnow continues to surprise the Monmouth Angler.
Here is a round up of some of the action that has been happening on our waters in June 2013 and earlier.
John was pleasantly surprised last week to catch a Rainbow Tout as well as a Grayling on the section between the Slaughterhouse Wall and the Ingliss Bridge.... -

Anthony, one of our members went fishing at Treowen and caught a number of nice fish.
A particularly nice one was a common carp of about 11 inches long. This was almost certainly one of a number of carp of about 7 inches long that we stocked in November 2011.... -

It must be summer – there are sedges about!
Here is one that I caught and took a photo of.
The sedge fly is quite distrinctive and often a feature of summer days. -

Its looks like the mayfly are hatching. Always a good time for the trout angler.
Mid week Jonty saw a mayfly above the Slaughterhouse wall. It was the smaller yellow type.
Others have also reported seeing mayfly around.
