What I was trying to say was, that this is not the correct criteria for setting belt tension.... -

That is too tight for any cog-belt, sir.
It does not matter if it slaps the inside of the boom-this is an "old wives tale". It should be just tight enough so that you can't slip a tooth on the bench, when holding the tail rotor with one hand and trying to turn the head gently with the other... -

When changing belts, or on initial installation, I will loosen all of the boom block bolts enough to actually push the boom up until it contacts the tail guide pulleys. If you get it in that far everything goes on much easier. I then just pull the boom...
