As it’s the hottest week of the year so far, I thought I would give a shout out to something I have very recently discovered: dog ice cream.
Yes, I know. It’s sounds ridiculous. A product for over-indulged dogs, bought by owners with more money than sense. But, bear with me....

I have done some extraordinarily diverse things since I started LibertyLondonGirl some thirteen years ago, but June saw a first: I was guest judge at a dog show, the inaugural Highgate Fair in the Square Dog Show.
We were three judges in total – the lovely local vet, myself, and Laurel the Fox Terrier’s owner. As you can see above, Lettice took some persuading that Laurel was friend, not foe....

Whilst I am all for al fresco dining in its myriad versions (I have a lot of time for a table and a pergola), there’s no reason why a picnic served on a blanket can’t still be a delicious treat.
That being said I do favour a little bit of upscaling: cushions make a welcome addition for sideways lolling, and pretty tin plates, proper napkins, and a thermos of ice for scorching hot days will all go a long way towards the making of a perfect picnic...
