A coach from the fleet of Yellow Bus Services was featured as last week’s mystery vintage picture. It was pictured outside the YBS garage in Worplesdon Road, Stoughton.
I was delighted that the responses included some extra details about the firm and the man who made the decorations for the coach, as it was an entry in Guildford’s carnival procession to mark the coronation of Elizabeth II in 1953....

Train journeys in Scotland are not particularly dangerous but seeing my son Tom arrive safely at Inverness was a relief.
If he had not arrived when he did there was no second chance. There were only two scheduled trains from Inverness that called at Lairg. Ours, due to leave in 30 mins at 1400, was the last of the day.  If we missed it the whole trip would lay in ruins...
