Shoeless Shel Bell

In less than 2 weeks I will be attempting to finish a 100 mile race.  I have tried twice before but DNF'd.  In both of those races I don't see them as a failure but rather as lessons I've learned and can use in the future.
After I DNF'd at Javalina last year I learned my biggest mistake there was not eating enough. I had a huge crash at mile 40 and in hindsight I could have recovered by simply eating more but my inexperience in identifying that early caused me to not recognize...

After reading a friend's beautifully written post (Krista) I started thinking about my own life journey.
I think I began my own transformation a little earlier on.  For me I can look back on this period of my life and recognize it was a turning point....

Going into this race I was pretty confident. Maybe that's the indicator that this race wouldn't go how I had hoped it would. What I love most about running, trail running and long distance running is no matter how much you think you've learned there...
