    I was unable to find any, though it may be because of my lack of google-fu rather than their non-existence. I know there's QB64, FreeBASIC and so on, however since my goal is to write a DOS game (I feel like DOS is underappreciated in the "homebrew"...

    Only via DOSBox, I'm afraid. Seriously, even on 32bit Windowses that are newer than XP (Vista+) and even on XP to some extent (try running Doom in DOS window in Win98, then try the same in XP, then tell me about performance compared to doing the same...

    This program reads a com port and plots a voltage reading sent to the com port via an A/D
    QB64 always causes an Input Past End of File error when reading a com port but the included ON ERROR / Error handling sub takes care of it.

    SOLUTIONS USED:
    I used the OPEN FOR INPUT command and Z$=INPUT(LOC(2),#2) which I knew would result in an INPUT PAST END OF FILE error. I had to use LOC instead of LOF b/c LOF was always =0 and my routine returned LOC = a valid number. just before the Z$= INPUT command...
