举个例子，老鼠在凌晨时最活跃，它们喜欢待在暗处，总是躲藏起来；而对面的马则在中午最为活跃，喜欢在晴天奔跑。
牛是勤劳的动物，在古代农耕时代扮演着重要角色，而相对地，羊给人一种懒洋洋的感觉。

时辰按照十二生肖来排列。
子时，又名「子夜」：十二时辰的第一个时辰。时间为23:00-01:00。夜间11点至次日凌晨1点，属于「子时」，「子为鼠」。正是老鼠趁夜深人静、频繁活动之时，老鼠在这个时候最活跃。
丑时：十二时辰的第二个时辰。时间为01:00-03:00。凌晨1点至3点，属「丑时」。「丑为牛」。牛习惯在夜间吃草，农家常在深夜起来点灯喂牛。
