Marissa, a New Mexican native, graduated from Valley High School and went on to graduate from the University of New Mexico. She graduated with a B.A. in Multi-Media Communications and Spanish.

She then traveled east down I-40 and began her career in Amarillo, Texas. She worked for the ABC affiliate, KVII ABC7 News. While in Texas, she reported, produced and anchored the weekend shows. There, Marissa followed one of the most high profile murder cases to happen in the city.  While in Amarillo, Marissa also interviewed the host and anchor of What Would You Do, John Quinones, who she says is a strong mentor for young inspiring journalists.

Marissa made her way back home after spending two years in Texas. Marissa spends most of her time with her Grandma, who she calls Grama B, the "B" stands for bonita. She says she she couldn't wait to be home with her family and friends.

During the summer you can catch Marissa at a Topes game or any event that has to do with baseball. During the winter, she'll be cheering on the Lobos!
