the overflow

it's been a long time since i've written.
and it's not that i'm trying to restart this blog - this space that meant much to me for the year or two i needed it.
but this morning i'm overwhelmed with gratitude, and i thought maybe one more entry - one last entry....

my alarm went off at 5:00 am, ringing out in unison with the loud clap of thunder whose partner lit the early morning sky. i've been working at the hospital for almost 2 months now, and i've been awoken each morning, until this one, my gut sifting through...

a word embroidered on pretty fabric, trapped tightly round by a wooden hoop, giving name to a restful weekend spent driving around central illinois fields with a close friend and kindred spirit.
i've had a (spirit-sucking) headache for weeks. i thought maybe it was because i needed new glasses. turns out, i need to relax. one would think - i certainly did - that time spent at home, between jobs (on the brink of a career), as the winter melts...

saturday morning coffee and pastries at flour, even when (perhaps especially when) the snow is up to our ears. compelling conversations about ideas for justice in healthcare and education and allocation of our nation's resources.
clam chowder, corn bread and a seasonal sam adams at union oyster house....
