Sphere + Matte + Map is a good start. Now you have to check Unseen by Rays, and Uncheck Cast Shadow and Is Emitter in the sphere attributes.

Hi,
I make skies in Vue, I export as hdri for panoramic views, and as normal images for say 1920x1080.
I create a scene in Clarisse, add a terrain with texture, then add the lighting from the hdri using Image Based Lighting icon on the Lighting tab. -
